We have run many trips since the initial Charity Challenge in November 2020

We have run 3 trips to the Ankober area, and the edge of Wof Washa forest in North Shoa for our Charity challenge and to Ensaro and Moretna Jiru woredas of North Shoa (our Explore the Gamma Canyon trips).

We have ridden round Lake Langano and explore Shalla/ Abijiata lakes, we have ridden bikes around Wanchi Crater, and even up Abuna Yoseph from Lalibela. One of our favourite destinations in Gurage which we have often visited for Meskal (see below) when there is a huge celebration at every village. The cycling is amazing and we managed to do some rafting on the Wabe river (which becomes the Omo river downstream). We don’t only do mountain biking, but have some some great treks and even paragliding!

Meskal Adventure – Gurage trails

Our Meskal adventure is THE place to be for this Ethiopian holiday.

On our previous trip in September 2024 we drove into Gurage two days before the holiday, biking part of the way in on deserted dirt roads. We based our trip from two beautiful and serene camps in the Gurage highlands allowing us to explore the back roads and trails on mountain bikes, and join in with the local festivities.
Our experiences included a half day rafting on the Wabe river, and a bike ride that involved crossing a branch of the same river higher up. Whether cycling a challenging but rewarding route, hiking through scenic trails or partaking in other activities, a memorable adventure is guaranteed.
The hospitality of the Gurage communities we interacted with is unmatched, allowing clients to experience an authentic Gurage Meskal holiday.

Hawassa Charity Challenge.

In January 2024 we held another trip to raise money for charity.

On our Outdoor Adventure Weekend in Hawassa was to the surrounding untouched countryside of the Sidama Region. We were cycling along the Rift Valley escarpment in breath-taking mountain scenery. The weekend ended with the charity bike ride (or hike) raising money for freelance tourism professionals around the country who have had no income due to the consecutive impacts of COVID19 and conflict.

This was our fourth staging of the charity event, in a new, but tested and safe location, Ride The Rift managed to attract participation of around 20 individuals and their families although the amount we raised for charity was very small, we are looking to add more to t he pot from further upcoming trips. While most participated in mountain biking, some were hiking too.
